A little postcard of information from her Kiddiegram
North Node in 1st House in Libra:
Poppy's path in life requires that she focus on pursuing her own personal interests, desires, and inner directives. She must resist the pull of excessive concern over other people's approval or disapproval of her. Poppy is meant to be a solo act, and therefore the more she concentrates on her own development (whether material or spiritual), the more she fulfills her destiny. She makes a contribution to life by focusing on her own individuality and being herself as fully as she can, even if this appears egotistical or overly self-involved to others. As a parent or caring elder in her life, you may be able to encourage her along these lines by paying attention to what she is drawn to and allowing her to go her own way

The qualities Poppy needs in order to succeed in this endeavor are harmony, balance, and learning to appreciate opposing viewpoints. Encourage her not to go to extremes, but to find middle ground.

This astrological portrait of your child is intended to give you insight into her unique gifts and challenges. Much of a child's behavior which may puzzle or stymie her parents are quite normal, common "developmental stages" of childhood, and there are a number of fine books available on the subject which illuminate the predictable stages that children experience as they unfold. In addition to the universal patterns, each child is an individual with particular qualities, potentials, and needs, and an understanding of these can help you parent your child more wisely and effectively. Acceptance and appreciation for a child's basic nature, and an awareness of the places where there might be stress or difficulties for your child, can be important allies in your parenting.

You will find that the interpretation of your child's chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then she exhibits these opposite qualities at different times in her life. For example, a statement that she is highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that she vacillates, and needs both sociability and solitude at different times.

ASCENDANT

The RISING SIGN in the birthchart (also known as the Ascendant) shows how this child faces life, her basic attitude or stance toward the world, the way she comes across, and how she appears to others.

Virgo Rising:

Poppy has a quiet, humble, unassuming appearance, and she can easily be overlooked in a group of children, as she is not in the least flamboyant or dramatic or even especially assertive, at least on first impression. She has a rather intelligent demeanor, and often appears to be quietly observing and analyzing.

She is careful, cautious, and has an almost compulsive desire to do things "right" or perfectly. She may be especially particular about the appearance or the way she comes across which can make her seem rather self-conscious or inhibited. Generally, Poppy is very contented NOT to be in the limelight; having too much attention focused on her, especially in a public setting, can make her very uncomfortable. In fact, self-criticism may well be one of her biggest demons, accompanied by the desire to be perfect which underlies it. As her parents, you need to be sure that you do not reinforce this tendency by expecting too much of her or having unreasonably high standards yourselves. Helping her to lighten up, worry less, relax more, and keep things in perspective, will be an ongoing challenge for you. She tends to obsess over the most minute details that most people would not even notice.

There is an up side, however, to her attention to details:  she can be a highly skillful artisan, with her ability to do fine, meticulous handiwork, such as needlework, building models, making crafts. Any hobby in which she uses her hands to create something useful can be very satisfying for her, and will also build her self-confidence. When she is able to do something really well, she feels good about herself.

She also has an innate sense of order and tidiness. She likes to categorize and classify and keep things in their place. A simple, orderly, and peaceful environment contributes a lot to her sense of well-being.

Asc. Sextile Saturn:

Poppy appears responsible, mature, and conscientious, and she has a realistic, adult-like attitude toward life even at a young age. She may be rather shy and careful about expressing herself, also.

SUN

The SUN in the birth chart represents who this child is at heart, her primary thrust in life, and what path she needs to follow in order to fulfill herself as a unique individual. It indicates who she is inside rather than the way she appears (which is shown more clearly by the Rising Sign).

Sun in Leo:

Poppy is very concerned with becoming a person of distinction and importance, and as a child this is likely to be expressed as a great need for special recognition, attention, praise, and applause. She relishes the limelight, loves to be made much of, and will positively glow with delight when she is the center of attention. Above all else she cannot tolerate being ignored or considered mediocre, "just one of the crowd." She possesses an inherent sense of dignity and pride, and she wants to be outstanding and special. She is also strong-willed, definitely a force to be reckoned with. Unless you want a small dictator on your hands, you will often have to be very firm with her. She is very stubborn and persistent when she wants something, and you will have to be equally so. But even though she is likely to strongly resist your rules or disciplinary actions at times, she will also secretly admire you for it if you are truly just and do not violate her sense of self-respect. Humiliate her and she will never forgive you. And she has a real horror of being embarrassed in front of others.

In a group of children, Poppy is inclined to be at the hub of the action. She has the ability to organize, direct, and lead others, but as a child she can also be rather overbearing, and she tends to dominate less sturdy children. On the other hand she looks up to older children or adults that win her respect, and she is inclined to have heroes, shining examples, people she wants to emulate. She needs to have positive models to inspire her to be her best.

One of her most appealing qualities is her warm-heartedness. She is very generous and loyal in her affections, and if you love her, she will wholeheartedly adore you in return. She also has a very playful, exuberant, fun-loving side which is likely to last throughout her life.

Sun in 11th house:

Poppy's social world and friendships are extremely important to her.  She shines in groups and in cooperative endeavors and is apt to feel at loose ends when left to her own devices.  For instance, growing up in a fairly remote rural setting might be very nourishing and inspiring for some children, but for her it is limiting and probably boring.  Teams, clubs, and other groups which she and her peers can join are her cup of tea.

Sun Conjunct Venus:

Poppy is affectionate and sociable, and her friendliness will open doors for her throughout her life. However, she may depend more on her charm and attractiveness, rather than personal effort, to make her way in the world.

She has a natural sense of beauty, art, and style, and she appreciates tastefulness and gracefulness in small, everyday matters. Try to encourage any creative interests she shows, as she is likely to be artistically gifted, though perhaps unmotivated to develop her talent.

Sun Trine Uranus:

Poppy has an independent, self-willed, and rebellious streak, and she prefers to take her own path than to follow the standard, tried-and-true methods. This means that as an adult she will be original, innovative, progressive, unafraid to be different or unconventional. As a child, she is inclined to question authority and to ignore rules when they interfere with her self expression. She is drawn to anything a little different or offbeat, and she likes to take chances.

MERCURY

MERCURY represents thinking and reasoning processes, the way your child's mind works, her intellectual inclinations and way of communicating ideas.

Mercury in Virgo:

Poppy's mind is clear, critical, and precise, and she pays meticulous attention to details. She dissects each idea presented to her, picking it apart in order to study it. She is also skillful with her hands and may enjoy handicrafts, needlework, and the like.

Mercury in 12th house:

Poppy keeps many of her thoughts, ideas, and interests to herself, and she may be overlooked in school because she doesn't assert her point of view.  She prefers to sit back and absorb what's going on around her.  Daydreaming and fantasizing occupy a good deal of her time, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing, because she can use her imaginative thinking in creative ways.

Mercury Opposition Neptune:

Artistic, imaginative, creative, and spiritual ideas are of most interest to Poppy, and she may have trouble concentrating on more concrete or mundane subjects.

Her imagination colors her perceptions so much that sometimes she has trouble discriminating between fact and fantasy, also. She needs to develop mental clarity and an outlet for her magical fantasy life, such as creative writing.

Mercury Trine Pluto:

Poppy has a deep, probing, analytical mind, and she is not content with simple, pat answers or superficial explanations. She has the mind of an in-depth researcher, private investigator, or spy!  Anything hidden or mysterious fascinates her.

MOON

The MOON in the birthchart indicates how she deals with and expresses feelings, how she experiences the world on an emotional, feeling, non-verbal level, what her emotional needs are, and what she needs to feel secure, comfortable and at ease.

Moon in Leo:

Warm, sunny, cheerful, and something of a "ham," this child thrives on being the center of attention. She loves having an audience and she is likely to have some boisterous attention-grabbing techniques that are none too subtle, if she feels she is being ignored.

"Notice me!  Love me!  Tell me I'm wonderful!" may well be the underlying message of much of her behavior. She simply suffers if her special quality, her uniqueness, and her abilities are not noticed and appreciated. If she is given any encouragement at all, she will do her utmost to stand out, to be the best. She has a deep inner sense of nobility and pride and she very much needs respect, as well as the love and affection all children require. (Never ridicule or make fun of her, especially in public.)  Given plenty of praise and love, no child will be more devoted, adoring, wholeheartedly loving, and affectionate than she is.

On the other hand, if she is lavished with adulation and made too much of, she is likely to become rather narcissistic, and to have a lop-sided sense of her own importance, so you will need to achieve a fine balance.

There is a natural performer in her, and she needs to have a medium through which to express her dramatic, creative side, a place where she can really shine out.

Also, she likes to make her own choices and decisions, and this should be allowed for as much as possible. Try not to engage her in power struggles over matters that are really not so important. She can be intensely persistent and willful!

Moon in 11th house:

Poppy feels at home when she belongs to a group, a club, or a team of some sort--an organization that serves as a second family.  She thrives on group activities--such as a church youth club or a scout troop--in which she can develop long-term friendships.  Such involvements will serve her best if they emphasize cooperation, support, belonging, and acceptance rather than competition.

Moon Conjunct Mars:

Feisty, temperamental, and often rash, Poppy is not always an obliging or submissive child, and she should be given as many opportunities as possible to let off steam. Physical play is especially important to her; otherwise, she is likely to be irritable and impatient much of the time. Even if she is usually mild and peace-loving, she can lash out and be surprisingly forceful when she feels threatened.

VENUS

VENUS represents the way your child gives and receives affection, makes friends, and socializes. It also indicates artistic or creative inclinations.

Venus in Leo:

Poppy very much wants to be admired, petted, and made much of by her friends, and she is lavish in her affection for others as well. She can be greedy for attention, and she very much dislikes being ignored or seen as just one of the crowd. There is a streak of vanity in her. Positively, she is warm, demonstrative, loyal and generous with people she cares about.

Venus in 11th house:

Agreeable and happy in a social setting, Poppy will be an asset to any group she joins.  She loves good company and usually is good company.  She cannot tolerate too much solitude; indeed, she wilts without friends and the pleasures of society and community.

Venus Conjunct Jupiter:

Generous and open-hearted, Poppy likes to help, inspire or cheer up her friends. She does not understand pettiness at all; when she gives a gift or entertains her friends, she likes to do so on a grand scale. Her taste for quality or luxury can sometimes degenerate into extravagance, wastefulness, and a lack of moderation.

Venus Square Saturn:

Poppy needs much reassurance that she is wanted, valued, and worthy of love; otherwise, she is inclined to feel alienated and afraid to trust people. Though she very much wants friends, it may be hard for her to get close to people. She is likely to have just a few close friends that she keeps for a long time, and to be ill-at-ease in social situations or when meeting new people.

Venus Trine Uranus:

Poppy has musical ability and a good sense of rhythm. Dance and music are both areas she has talent for.

She enjoys people who are spontaneous, creative, and free-spirited.

MARS

MARS represents your child's drive, ambition, will, energy level, and ability to assert herself.

Mars in Leo:

Poppy's vitality and energy level is high. She plays hard and she plays to win. Losing or being second are intolerable to her, especially while she is young. Her will and determination are formidable!

Mars in 11th house:

Poppy achieves the most and is most inspired to work when she's involved in a group project or team event.  She can be a take-charge person in a group, and she likes to be with people who are active doers rather than passive spectators.  She may prefer the company of boys or be more interested in traditionally male endeavors.

Mars Trine Saturn:

Poppy is careful, cautious, thorough, and rather conservative in the way she uses her energy. She tries to minimize any risks or element of uncertainty before she acts, and she sometimes loses out by playing it safe. Her energy level is steady and consistent.

JUPITER

JUPITER in the birth chart reveals the child's future aspirations, and how she seeks to grow and improve herself.  It also indicates areas of natural confidence, success, or "luck."

Jupiter in Virgo:

Poppy is spontaneously and generously helpful.  She sincerely enjoys serving others, assisting the teacher, or being Mom or Dad's faithful helper.  And while she certainly appreciates praise for a job well done, she feels the greatest satisfaction in doing the job.  She's also clearly aware of her need for improvement and generally accepts criticism quite willingly.  In fact, she frequently turns away from compliments or applause. She has an appealing natural humility.

Sometimes other children may see her as "too good," and truth be told, Poppy can be a bit too exacting, sometimes even a bit preachy, about following the rules.

Jupiter in 12th house:

Poppy doesn't need to be made much of in order to feel good about herself.  In fact, she's apt to shy away from the limelight, and thus may not receive the credit and personal recognition she deserves.  She likes to help people or other creatures that need her, but prefers to do it anonymously.

In her class at school, she may want to succeed and excel, but not at the expense of the other children.  She doesn't understand vicious competition.  Her teachers may neglect her because she doesn't push herself forward or toot her own horn, and in the family she may well be the "good" one who is similarly overlooked.  People may coax her to be more outgoing or even more self-serving, but she's actually apt to be extraordinarily "lucky" because of her gentleness.

She may also express a pronounced interest in spirituality, her inner life, and such things as angels, saints, dreams, miracles, and other spiritual phenomena.

Jupiter Square Saturn:

Optimism and pessimism, or belief and doubt, are often at odds within Poppy.  This may mean she will hopefully, enthusiastically start something, but be easily disheartened by any resistance or criticism she receives.  A constructive relationship with a positive role model would be especially beneficial to her, as would a caring parent or teacher who encourages her to stay with her original plan, and reminds her that she can withstand criticisms and doubts.

SATURN

The position of SATURN in your child's birth chart indicates the areas in which she is especially insecure, about which she is most serious, and/or in which she works hardest or is hardest on herself.  It also reveals those weaknesses which, through effort, may become her greatest strengths.

Saturn in Scorpio:

Any struggles, fears, or troublesome feelings that Poppy encounters are apt to be kept to herself, but perceptive parents and other caregivers can detect them--usually from her brooding silences or her withdrawal from the social life of the family. This secretiveness may work against her by intensifying her turmoil.  Difficult unexpressed emotions, such as jealousy over the birth of a new sibling or anger at a parent, can grow out of all proportion.  At times, therefore, she'll feel misunderstood: "Nobody really knows me."  The truth is that it can be hard to get to know her, because she doesn't readily trust others.  If she has even one confidante--a parent, an aunt or uncle, or another trustworthy adult who will not judge, shame, or "thou-shalt-not" her feelings--it will go a long way toward diffusing her tensions.  If not, she is likely to suffer from guilt for her strong, but essentially normal, emotions and reactions.

Saturn in 3rd house:

Being criticized or humiliated for expressing her opinions and thoughts is one of  Poppy's fears.  Thus she may be quiet and hesitant to speak up.  If she has siblings, they mustn't be allowed to tease or belittle her, because this will push her further into herself.

MOON'S NODES

The Lunar Nodes are points formed by the moon's orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth's path around the Sun. These sensitive "power points" in our child's chart give vital information about those areas of life experience that she will instinctively be drawn to in order to fulfill her life purposes, as well as qualities she needs to develop and express in order to do so. They show where she can be most successful as she unfolds her natural talent

GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES

The slow-moving planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto represent the ideals, changes, and impulses of an entire generation. While the descriptions below may or may not describe your child as an individual, they will tell you about the climate of the times and the underlying issues and challenges of your child's age group.

For instance, when Neptune (which represents one's spiritual ideals, dreams, aspirations, fantasies and illusions) passed through the egalitarian and harmony-loving sign of Libra (from 1943-1957), the children who would grow into the "flower children," hippies, and supporters of the peace movement were born. Not every person born during that time became a hippie or identified themselves with the peace movement, but certainly they were affected by the feeling-tone and ideals of their age group and the times they grew up in. Thus, the following information is intended to give you insight into the important motifs and issues of your child's generation.

URANUS indicates where the impulse for change, innovation, liberation from the past, and experimentation with new forms is the strongest. It is where the status quo is disrupted or uprooted to make way for something new. Sudden inspiration and invention are also represented by Uranus.

Uranus in Aries:

FREEDOM for the individual is of utmost importance to this age group. They are some of the most extreme when it comes to following their own inner spark as opposed to adhering to the rules or guidelines imposed by outside authority. They are infused with a powerful spirit of adventurous freedom, self reliance, and revolution, and are in no way passive if their personal freedoms are impinged upon. Many will be seen as incendiary troublemakers.

Uranus in 7th house:

Poppy is unconventional and independent in her attitudes toward relationship, and as a child this is apt to manifest as a whole array of unusual friends. She's drawn to free spirits, eccentrics, nonconformists, and mavericks because they allow her the freedom to explore new ways of interacting with and connecting to the world.  Or, she may be somewhat erratic with her playmates - suddenly dropping someone she was quite enchanted with earlier.  She is apt to avoid friends who rely on her excessively or exclusively.

NEPTUNE represents the quest for the ideal, the dream, for something more sublime. The sign it is passing through at the time of one's birth colors one's spiritual aspirations and ideals, and also indicates where the desire to escape reality, to fantasize, deceive oneself, and become lost in illusion is the strongest.

Neptune in Pisces:

Profoundly mystical forces are washing over the collective psyche of this group. The life of the soul becomes paramount. Water also becomes a primary concern. Healing waters, fountains, and springs with supernatural powers, as well as being "washed" with the Holy Spirit may play important roles.

Neptune in 6th house:

Poppy may dream of being a doctor or a veterinarian, as she hopes to alleviate others' physical suffering or distress.  She may have a rather sensitive physique herself, and building immunity through a healthy, moderate diet and regular habits should be encouraged.  She responds well to gentle and spiritual approaches to healing as well.

PLUTO in the birth chart indicates a process of deep change, transformation, and renewal, often through destruction or confrontation with darkness.  This is a process that takes place in society as well as in individuals.  Pluto's position in the birth chart shows where one is compulsive, extreme, or learning key life lessons.

Pluto in Capricorn:

Those born during these years (2008-2023) struggle to transform corruption, greed, and the control of power and natural resources in the world around them. Large, impersonal institutions and the heavy handed authoritarianism that breaks them up will be challenged by these children as they grow up. They will be profoundly influenced by witnessing the way power is wielded by their fathers and other authorities they encounter. Cynicism and upheaval may result if integrity, wisdom, and a positive use of masculine strength is not modeled for these children.

Pluto in 4th house:

Poppy is apt to have a very intense relationship with one or both of her parents.  It may be stormy and difficult, or it may simply be an unusually close, strong attachment.  She's very much aware of and affected by the emotional undercurrents, secrets, or power dynamics in her home. Healing or clearing away some old family business is a part of her life task.
